About

I’ve been a photographer since 1988, starting out by documenting life in Glasgow before moving into photojournalism with the national press. Over the years I’ve covered everything from the Lockerbie bomber and Dunblane to the death of Princess Diana — moments in history that shaped me as much as I tried to capture them.

My work has taken me far and wide. I co-authored Faces of the Underworld, which was well received, and my photographs have found their way onto TV and into magazines across the world. Along the way, I’ve also had the chance to work as a filmmaker with people like Ricky Gervais, Irvine Welsh, Iggy Pop, and Bobby Gillespie of Primal Scream — experiences I’m grateful for and still slightly amazed by.

These days, I’m focused on my own projects — from independently published books to limited-edition fine art prints. In 2024, I launched Gallus Collective, a streetwear brand that fuses over 30 years of my photographic archive into design. It feels like a new way of sharing the work, keeping the stories alive, and hopefully connecting with people in a fresh way.

At heart, I’m still just doing what I’ve always done: telling stories with pictures, in whatever form they want to take.
